There's an interesting subtext to this film the more that I think about it. Naomi Watt can't seem to give in to Adrien Brody's love for her until her ability to love is first awokened by the beast and then the possibilities for said love are dashed by the inability of the beast to co-exist with modern society. In other words, women are attracted to the beast (aka the alpha male) but can only find a future with the intellectual types. Or something like that.
